Affirmations and the Throat Chakra

Updated: May 17, 2021

Recently, Jason posted an article describing the chakra system and the 7 primary chakras most well understood and presented as a model for understanding our energy centers. The chakra I would like to discuss today is the 5th chakra, the Throat Chakra. In his article, Jason describes the declarative power (I AM) of this energy center on expression of needs, connection with others through sound vibration, and speaking of truth. This energy center is exceptionally relevant to our work on effective communication and is our foundational material designed as a gateway to open greater awareness and connection with oneself and the outside world. Through utilizing the declarative power of your 5th Chakra, you can affirm your truth, desires, and statements into physicality (reality) by thoughtfully considering how you would like to express yourself and be heard.

When we consider our declarative power and I AM presence, it is natural to think of affirmations as an effective method to declare personal power. Affirmations are not new, but they are very powerful. When we use affirmations, we are affirming to ourselves what we believe is true, what we declare is right for us, and what we are choosing to express and create in the world. These powerful statements are a way to reprogram our conscious and subconscious mind from old ways of thinking and being. Several studies have been conducted that highly correlate daily affirmations for 30 days can reprogram your internal thoughts, which subsequently changes/impacts your external expressions, behaviors, and actions.

Lately, I started performing more consistent affirmations in the morning before work. I set aside 15 minutes and listen to a YouTube video of affirmations that are right for me. I listen to each affirmation and then repeat the affirmation out-loud with focused intention and gratitude for what I am listening to and feeling. These simple statements such as, “I am worthy. I am whole in mind, body, and Spirit. I am love. I am healthy, strong, and protected. I am abundant. I am grateful. I am happy, joyous, and peaceful” have a profound effect on my day and have already reprogramed my mind. I have become much more aware of these affirmations that I can recite them throughout the day automatically without having to force myself to think of them. What’s even more interesting is the fact I truly believe in these affirmations and feel the immense gratitude for the way these declarative statements have enriched my general disposition, attitude, and reflection on life.

Because the throat chakra is so powerful, we must constantly be mindful of our declarative statements. In our material, we teach avoiding undesirable inner and outer self-talk as a method to transition from ineffective to effective communication. We also teach as one of our 13 guidelines to effective communication to be cognizant of word choices. Prior to this article, we did not explain the underlying spiritual basis for our foundational material. However, now we are exposing deeper layers of the content previously taught in order to expand true awareness of the power of our I AM presence and Throat Chakra. A good way to tie in the spiritual understanding from this article is to apply affirmations for declarative power in effective communication. Below are 10 statements to consider.

  1. I AM expressing my authentic voice in the manner I would like to be perceived.

  2. I AM honoring my commitment to communicate honestly and with focused intention.

  3. I AM choosing to express myself in healthy, beneficial ways that support me.

  4. I AM confident in sharing my thoughts and ideas with others without fear of judgment.

  5. I AM grateful to have a powerful voice that others respect and listen to.

  6. I AM dedicated to becoming a more effective communicator for myself and others.

  7. I AM aware of my value as a conscious creator and will use my voice to enhance and uplift others and myself.

  8. I AM motivated to grow consciously through personal responsibility and ownership of my self-expressions and their impact on my interactions.

  9. I AM creating a beautiful life for myself filled with positive, uplifting thoughts and words that truly represent me.

  10. I AM inspired and empowered to communicate honestly and with integrity, as my words matter.
