I thought it would be interesting to discuss the idea of the chakras and how they affect a person's vibration. Before diving into the topic it is important to note that there are different systems of practice that work with a different number of chakras. The common system is of 7 chakras, there are also systems that work with 9 and others that work with 12. Some Yogis will even state that there are over 100 chakras. The system that I work with is the 12 chakra system of 7 main energy centers in the physical body and 5 in the more subtle energy body. There are many more smaller energy points located in the hands, feet, knees, etc. but for this article I will be discussing the 7 main energy centers in the physical body which are located in and correspond to different endocrine glands. The locations and glands associated with the first 2 chakras will be dependent on the male/female body type.
The 7 chakras in the body also correspond with the 7 laws of creation. Each law corresponds to the 7 chakras in the physical body. I’ll also be referring to a wavelength function since I feel that this accurately represents the idea. So let’s dive in!

Crown Chakra:

This chakra is the seventh chakra and is violet in color. It is located in the crown of the head. Most associate the crown chakra with your pituitary gland. This chakra represents mentalism, or the mind, and is tied to how connected you feel towards yourself, others, and the universe. Think of it as the cosmic awareness. This chakra is the first to affect your vibration. Everything you experience is what you are thinking. Mind is vibration, and thinking directs your vibration. So you are affecting your vibration by directing your thoughts as to what you want to become.
Third Eye Chakra:

This chakra is the sixth chakra and is indigo in color. It is located at the point between the eye brows. Most associate the third eye chakra with your pineal gland. This chakra represents correspondence, and is associated with true sight, discernment, and knowing. The law of correspondence as identified by the hermetic traditions state: as above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul. This chakra is your mirror. It affects your vibration by allowing you to see or witness your own vibration reflected back to you. This is the chakra which will give you feedback of your vibration.
Throat Chakra:

This chakra is the fifth chakra and is sky blue in color. It is located in the throat where your thyroid is. Your throat chakra is your declarative power. What you declare is what you start to create for yourself. Your voice is also how you express your needs, and connects you with other humans. Other chakras deal with determining your truth, but this chakra allows you to express it. This chakra makes your vibration by sound. Think of the vibration as a wavelength formation, and the throat chakra creates the projection, the wave.
Heart Chakra:

This is the fourth chakra and is green in color. It is located in the chest where the thymus is. This chakra represents the rhythm of your vibration, and is associated with love, compassion, and healing. Rhythm is connected to time, or perception of time. If your vibration is low, time will feel slow, long, and drawn out. If your vibration is high, time will feel fast and short. Change will occur in your life according to how fast or slow the rhythm of your vibration is. I try to look for a state of balance between low and high, as either extreme can cause undesirable experiences.
Solar Plexus Chakra:

This is the third chakra and is yellow in color. It is located in the solar plexus where the pancreas is. This chakra represents cause and effect, and is associated with personal power, ego, impulses, etc. Since vibration and rhythm are conditioning everything that happens in your life, then by cause and effect, what you put out will come back to you as an effect. Your experience will be at the same level of frequency. Every cause has an effect and visa versa. This is where your sense of responsibility and accountability reside. When something happens, consider how you are vibrating. When reflecting, it’s important to be 100% honest with yourself. I also like to reflect on the 5 Ws to help me get to the bottom of the situation. If a situation comes up that is undesirable, you might have to change your thinking, in order to change your vibration, in order to change the cause and effect experience.
Sacral Chakra:

This is the second chakra and is orange in color. It is located near the navel. This chakra is the dwelling place of the self and is associated with one’s sexuality, creativity, and emotional balance. This chakra represents polarity. Everything has polarity, a positive and negative. We live in a world of perceived separation, and this chakra helps us identify our movement from one point to another. This polarity is represented by the apex of the wave as described by the wavelength function. Polarities help us move forward to create new energies. Each apex will feed into the next part of the wave, and into the next apex. It can also be looked at in terms of growth. Negative experiences (can hopefully) spur growth, or at least lead us in the direction of a more positive experience.
Root Chakra:

This is the first chakra and is red in color. It is located at the base of the spine around the coccyx and perineum. This chakra is associated with safety, security, survival, trust, etc. This chakra represents generation. Everything is generated by the law of polarity: positive/negative, masculine/feminine, etc. This is the part that transforms the energy. If relating to the wavelength function, this is the velocity of the energy moving through one apex and into the next.
To summarize:
7th: Directs your vibration through thought.
6th: Allows you to see and witness your vibration via mirroring back what you put out.
5th: Creates your vibration via sound of your declarative statements. I am…
4th: Is the rhythm, pace, or speed of your vibration.
3rd: The cause and effect. You will experience the frequency that you put out.
2nd: The depth of the apex of the wave function is controlled here. How high is the high? How low is the low?
1st: The generation, or momentum of transformation of energy is controlled here.
Sometimes while meditating, I will review and reflect on each chakra and see how I am in relation to each one. This always feels like a good place to start when I’m not feeling in a state of balance. If I’m honest with myself, I can quickly determine where my attention is needed. It’s a lot easier than most think because it’s an intuitive process, and it get’s easier with practice.
If reading this article is your first venture into the arena of the chakras, I highly recommend researching the chakras and finding other explanations of what each chakra represents. There are so many resources available and I truly believe the knowledge to be invaluable.
Much Love,
Jason
